Task Timer version 2.3.10
04/19/2006
We've been hoping to get Task Timer
3.0 out the door long before now and we've been creating one off
builds of version 2.3 when folks email us with bugs. Due to the
amount of email traffic that's been generated over the past couple
of weeks we've decided to roll out version 2.3.10b.
This version has a bunch of minor bug fixes. As always, please feel free to drop us a line if you find any issues.
Where's version 3 and why is it taking so long? We spend most of our time doing development work for other people and we've been very, very busy. This is both good and bad. Good because we're busy and most of our income is derived from contract programming. Bad because it keeps us from doing our own projects.
Version 3 is a significant change from version 2.x. We now allow up to five simultaneous timers going at once. We've added basic billing and billing reports. For the MySQL users we've added the ability to remove themselves from their network and go roaming and then 'synchronize' later with the server.
This is a really cool thing for people with laptops and probably one of the more difficult items in version 3 since there are so many questions and procedures we have to figure out before releasing it into the wild. And since we don't have an 'administrator utility' all clients need to synchronize all data - not just their primary user. See what I mean about difficult?
Anyway, that's me whining a little bit.
Thanks!
Bob K.

We do a lot of programming in
REALbasic and spend a lot of time in the RB mailing list and forums
and we've been to two REALworld conferences. We keep hearing the
same questions asked again and again about certain topics. Well,
maybe I should say we keep looking for answers on certain topics
and the RB solutions are limited at best.
So we are embarking on a journey that will attempt to document (with examples) of some of the solutions available to RB developers. The first topic is printing reports and the second is databases. Obviously these are related in that most database applications have some form of reporting. Think accounting or contact management.
We've already got a good start on the printing topic. Look back in the next several months for an update.
